Osbit Engineer: Mechanical (Graduate 2027)

About this role

Whether you've just graduated or have one to two years of experience under your belt, this is your chance to grow as an engineer at the forefront of offshore wind.

An Osbit Mechanical Engineer is technically capable, and driven, in equal measure. You're an energetic all-rounder, owning your project from start to finish, and collaborating closely with your colleagues to overcome any obstacles thrown your way. The offshore wind industry is growing fast, and our projects are too. There’s lots to work on, with opportunities to take ownership and make a genuine difference to our business outcomes. You must be willing to get stuck in, combining your technical nous with strong communication, and lateral thinking, to ensure that we deliver On Spec, to Budget and In Time - OSBIT, every time.

Your responsibilities

You'll be part of a live project team, working closely with your teammates to design and build each engineering system. You may be assigned different roles project-to-project, and your core responsibilities include:

  • Helping design innovative systems from first principles, from concept through to detailed design, while maintaining technical excellence.
  • Supporting on schedule delivery by effective management of your project deliverables.
  • Managing supplier progress, holding regular meetings and in-person support.
  • Preparing technical documentation & design calculations for peer review, and checking third party documentation.
  • Preparing for and carrying out testing, commissioning and mobilisation activities.
  • Liaising with other business functions, including finance and HSSEQ, for support and guidance.
  • Supporting your teammates by sharing your knowledge and insights in working groups and presentations, where applicable.

  • Adaptable when unexpected challenges crop up.

Your experience

In this role, as a basis you'll need:
  • A degree-level qualification, or equivalent, in a technical field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture. 
  • The ability to work with Autodesk Inventor software.
  • Proficiency in hand calculations, through to Staad and FEA.

Further information

  • Successful applicants be based at our Riding Mill headquarters, in North East England, working on site as required. 
  • There may be a limited number of opportunities at our newly opened Edinburgh office.
  • Working abroad may be required at times to visit customers, suppliers, and support assembly programmes.
  • We are flexible with start dates from Summer 2027 - September 2027.
  • The closing date for applications is 31 December 2026, however, this may be brought forward, dependant upon number of applications received.
